WINTER WONDERLAND
Case Study Dec 1998
A client instructed that we investigate a farmer in mid Wales who had allegedly suffered a traumatic industrial injury resulting in a multi-millions pound claim against a previous employer. Upon deployment our team quickly realised this task would be complicated.
Result:
Close reconnaissance indicated that it would not be possible to situate an observation platform in the vicinity of the farm complex. The significant driving distance along numerous tracks to the nearest main road made the presence of any unfamiliar vehicle a target for suspicion. Multiple routes away from the farm, also introduced additional problems.
After considering options, the decision was taken to conduct ranged observation from an elevated feature overlooking the majority of the farm complex. Days of heavy snow meant that any movement across open ground might invite compromise by farm workers therefore, under cover of darkness and heavy snow fall operatives navigated across country to an elevated location overlooking the main farm complex.
Enduring sub-zero temperatures our operatives laid in wait for first light in confidence that by morning their route across country would be covered by the heavy snowfall. Remaining in situ for in excess of 53 hours, our operatives secured video footage of mobility movements and the movement of certain contraband which the Police later confirmed was unlawful.
